Temporary Presence of the Eternal

about

Last Saturday (6th August 2022), I spent some time setting up a few sounds and sequencer outlines, and mapping controllers. Then, having got all of that ready to roll, I pressed record and off I went. A few sounds got away from me and I couldn't go too deep with the sequencing, but it was fun.

What then followed was some time on Sunday mixing the recording to balance out what I couldn't when I was playing – I think I just about got there and the overall sound is more pleasant to the ear now.

Everything you are hearing is a virtual instrument, which did add to the complication, and hence this necessitated a few “knob boxes” (you, stop laughing at the back) and a lot of standing on the sustain pedal, but it meant that I could play some amazing instruments that I just wouldn't have the money or space to be able to play normally.

Some instruments played were: a Moog Modular, an ARP 2500, a Minimoog, two Mellotrons, a Korg PS-3300, an EMS VSC3 and a mighty fine sounding 'cello.

The intention was really to setup up some thoughts for a low-tempo Kubusschnitt track, but in the end I left no space for anyone else, so I’ll try again later and remember not to play so many things. Although I’ve issued a few things recently, I thought that this might be enjoyable. I hope that it is.

Once again, I engaged my personal KDM (Giuseppe Milazzo) to name the track according to what came to mind whilst listening to it. Giuseppe also created the cover with one of his own photographs, using the same principle.
