about

This is my 50th release as The Soviet Space Dog Project, so I wanted to make something more coherent as an album - not least after some discussion about why we don't seem to make "real" albums any more now that we have Bandcamp.

What you have here is over 90 minutes of my sonic explorations over the last couple of months, gathered together and grooving in one album.

Each piece is based around a particular modular setup, with the music emerging from that setup. Sometimes starting with an ambience, sometimes with a sequence (or two), and sometimes just as a big organic whole.

Everything is played live as audio into my DAW (Reaper), using it like my old reel-to-reel multi-track - if I make a mistake, I play it all again, or I just leave it in.

Finally, everything is mastered down to 24-bit, as is everything that I record, I just haven't mentioned it before.
